August 2025 Updates
Here are some updates from the past month
Product
Drill Down from Dashboards to Focused Instance Data
You can now click on dashboard items such as bar charts, pie charts, or distribution tables to explore specific instance data. When you select a data slice, for example, all ‘Passed’ instances for a specific tester, you’ll be taken to the Instances View in the Test Sets & Runs module, automatically filtered to match the data you clicked.
Milestone-Based Tracking Enhancements
We’ve added two improvements to help you track releases more efficiently with milestones:
- Tab-Level Dashboard Filters by Milestone – Filter an entire dashboard tab by milestone to focus on a specific release and its progress at a glance.
- Multi-Level Auto Filters – Create auto filters based on milestones and combine them with additional criteria like testing status or assignee, for more granular reporting.
These enhancements make it easier to stay on top of release progress and organize your views around what matters most.
Tab-Level Filters Now Available in External Dashboards
When sharing dashboards externally with stakeholders outside PractiTest, they can now use tab-level filters. This allows non-PractiTest users to filter dashboard data by fields such as milestone or assignee, giving them more control and clarity without needing a PractiTest account.

Instance View in the Test Sets & Runs Module
Instead of the default list of Test Sets, you can now switch to an Instance View to see a flat list of individual test instances across all test sets. This view lets you quickly access instance-level details such as the instance name, associated test set, and other fields based on your selected filters. Read more about it in our Test Sets & Runs documentation.
Support for Rich Text Field Mapping
You can now map rich text fields from Jira to Memo fields in PractiTest, preserving formatting and improving field compatibility.

Work Simultaneously Without Conflicts with Collaborative Editing
PractiTest now supports real-time collaborative editing across all core entities: Requirements, Issues, Tests, Test Sets, and Milestones. See who else is working on the same entity with live avatars, avoid accidental overwrites, and resolve conflicts easily — so your team can fully collaborate and always work with the latest data. Customize Your Test Workflow with Built-In Approval Control
Customize the status workflow for tests to match your team’s QA processes. Using built-in controls to support approval and review tests. You can add or remove statuses, set allowed transitions, and apply new locking options:
- Edit Lock – Prevents editing of tests in specific statuses
- Execution Lock – Blocks execution of tests in specific statuses
This gives you greater control over how and when tests are modified or run, enabling more structured workflows and enforcing approvals before test executions. Read more about it in the Tests help page.
Note: This feature is available only for Corporate Accounts
Find Projects Faster in Jira Integration
You can now search the project dropdown when selecting a PractiTest project from Jira. For example, when creating a test with steps from a Jira user story, you can quickly search and select the right PractiTest project. This is especially helpful if you have many integrations.

Smart Fox AI – Similar Tests: Avoid Duplication, Boost Reusability
PractiTest now includes a new AI-powered capability to help you avoid duplicate tests, increase reusability, and save valuable time.As you fill in the Name and Description, the Similar Tests tab displays a real-time list of existing tests, including their names and IDs, helping you quickly determine whether the test you’re creating is truly new or already covered.
Generate Tests with Steps from PractiTest Requirements
You can now create a new manual test with relevant steps directly from a Requirement in PractiTest. Based on the requirement data, the test is generated with a single click, automatically linked to the requirement, and designed to help you cover it effectively. This makes it easier to turn requirements into executable tests and strengthens end-to-end traceability across your project. Read more here.
Attachment Sync for Jira Server (Available Only for Corporate Accounts)
PractiTest now supports two-way attachment synchronization with Jira Server for both issues and requirements. Attachments added during creation or later, whether from PractiTest or Jira, will stay in sync across both platforms. This includes attachments added at the step level when reporting issues via the “Fail & Issue” functionality during a test run.
Support for Jira Software Data Center v10.3.4
Our Jira plugin now officially supports Jira Software Data Center version 10.3.4, ensuring smoother compatibility with the latest enterprise environments.

A Fresh Experience: New PractiTest UI Is Here
We’re excited to introduce the new PractiTest interface across our core modules: Tests, Test Sets & Runs, Issues, and Requirements. These modules now follow a shared structure, creating a more intuitive and consistent experience throughout the platform, helping you work more efficiently.
You can enable the new UI today by clicking your avatar at the top right and selecting “Switch to New UI.”
Note: The new UI will be enforced soon to all users, so we encourage you to start exploring and getting comfortable with the new layout now.
New Capabilities Added to the New UI
- Customize Your Entity Layout
With the new UI, you can now fully customize the layout of each entity type to match your preferences. You can add new sections, decide where they will be placed (left or right side), choose which fields to include, and set the order of fields within each section.
Note: Layouts are managed at the project level and apply to all users. Each entity type has its own layout, so changes affect only that specific entity type.
- Choose How Requirement Status Is Calculated
With the new Requirement Coverage Scope, you can control how a requirement’s status is determined. In addition to the default option (based on the last linked test run), you can choose a specific test set to track — giving you better control and more accurate coverage. - Generate Tests with Steps from Jira and Azure DevOps User Stories
Working with Jira or Azure DevOps? You can now generate new manual tests with relevant steps, directly from a linked user story in either platform. With just one click, the test is created and added to your PractiTest Test Library, helping you speed up test creation and maintain full traceability between requirements and tests.
- Interactive Smart Fox Step Generator: Smarter, More Personalized Step Generation
Our AI assistant, Smart Fox, just got interactive! Now, when automatically generating steps in manual tests, you can write your own instructions and let Smart Fox improve and tailor them to your needs — making step generation faster and easier than ever. Learn more about Smart Fox here.
- Navigate Between Entities Without Going Back
You can now move between entities using the new Next and Back arrow buttons, directly from within the entity view. No need to return to the main module screen. For example, when viewing a test in the Test Library, use the arrows to jump to the next or previous test.

Here are some updates from the past month

- Save New Filters Straight from the Grid
Creating filters just got easier. You can now save any fast filters applied in the grid as a new filter, without navigating to the Settings page. Want to combine criteria from an existing filter and a fast filter? If you’re working from an existing filter and add fast filters on top, saving them will create a new child filter. This time-saving functionality is available across all modules: Tests, Test Sets, Issues, and Requirements.
- Get Notified When It’s Your Turn to Run a Test
With the new “Notify next user” option, the next assigned tester is automatically notified when it’s their turn to run a test instance. While this setting is managed by account admins by default, individual users can override it from their personal settings. This capability is available for Corporate licenses only.
