Release readiness index
When someone asks "Are we ready to Release?"
You'll know, Every time.
More Than a Dashboard. It Tells You What the Data Means.
PractiTest’s Release Readiness Index does more than report coverage, execution, and defect risk. It interprets those signals together through a built-in opinionated quality model, weighs what matters most as the project progresses, and turns them into one evolving readiness score.
One score. Three quality signals.
Instead of reading reports, jumping between dashboards, and stitching together spreadsheets
you can instantly see where the release stands, what’s missing, where the risk is, and what needs attention next.
Coverage Confidence
See whether your release scope is sufficiently covered and identify coverage gaps that still need attention.
Execution Confidence
Understand whether testing is progressing as expected and where execution needs more focus as the release approaches.
Remaining Defect Risk
Identify where unresolved defects are creating risk and understand their potential impact on the release.
From Release Scope to Release Readiness
Step 01 · Scope
Define the release scope
Create a PractiTest Milestone for the release, or sync a Jira sprint to automatically bring its scope into PractiTest and keep changes aligned.
Step 02 · Coverage
Build Coverage Confidence
Connect existing tests to the requirements in scope, create new tests where needed, and identify coverage gaps and edge cases that still need attention.
Step 03 · Execution
Build Execution Confidence
Execute your tests, track progress as results come in, and keep prioritizing what matters most as the release moves forward.
Step 04 · Defects
Reduce Remaining Defect Risk
See which unresolved defects still carry risk and how their priority affects readiness, so you can focus on what matters most.
Step 05 · Decision
Bring Readiness Into the Release Conversation
Bring a current view of release confidence, remaining risk, and what needs attention next into stakeholder conversations.

QA teams that release with confidence
PractiTest has allowed us to develop a centralized platform for testing where all the results filter into one location. This allows us to analyze our comprehensive results before we release them to production.
Siva Kopparapu,
Director of Technology, PartsSource
Thanks to PractiTest, we have a unified approach to testing for multiple delivery units in our organization. The Testing Center of Excellence has gained recognition and appreciation.
Mohita Parsad,
AST (acquired by IBM)
The flexible filtering system is a standout feature. It allows us to slice and dice data to focus on what’s most important- whether by product, model or team”
Akhil G,
Senior Test Manager
We evaluated several different test management platforms and chose PractiTest as our company standard. We are now consolidating our various test management systems into PractiTest.

FAQ
The Release Readiness Index is PractiTest’s opinionated readiness model for active Milestones. It combines requirement coverage, test execution, and remaining defect risk to help teams understand where a release stands and what is influencing its readiness.
The index combines three signals: Coverage Confidence, Execution Confidence, and Remaining Defect Risk. How those signals contribute to the overall score dynamically adjusts based on your progress through the Milestone, so the score reflects the current stage of the release.
A dashboard brings testing metrics into one view, but the interpretation is still left to the team. The Release Readiness Index applies a dedicated, opinionated model to those signals and produces one readiness score that reflects both your testing data and where you are in the Milestone.
Yes. The index updates continuously throughout an active Milestone and dynamically adjusts based on your progress through it, so the readiness score reflects the current stage of the release and the signals that matter most at that point.
No. Release Readiness works with PractiTest Milestones. Jira Sprint Sync provides an additional workflow for Jira teams by automatically bringing sprint scope into PractiTest and keeping it aligned.
Yes. Each of the three signals has its own score, so you can see what is pulling overall readiness up or down. For example, if requirements in the Milestone lack sufficient test coverage, Coverage Confidence will be lower, making it clear where the readiness score is being affected and what needs attention.
Jira Sprint Sync connects the development sprint with the PractiTest Milestone used for testing. As sprint scope changes, the Milestone stays aligned, giving the Release Readiness Index an up-to-date view of the release scope being tested.
