Time to Ditch the Folder Maze

Ever feel trapped in folders searching for tests? Or spending hours piecing together insights from multiple reports?

Traditional test management tools often rely on hierarchical folder structures to organize test cases and other test artifacts. While this approach might seem intuitive at first glance, it quickly reveals its limitations and becomes a burden as your testing team needs to evolve or grow.

Over time, this structure becomes cluttered, making it difficult to find specific test artifacts, especially as the team grows and more people are involved. Imagine trying to navigate a filing system you weren't part of creating! This struggle hinders findability and slows down testers, impacting overall efficiency.

Inflexibility to Evolve and Grow

Introducing PractiTest's Dynamic Data Revolution

PDDO offers a unique and flexible architecture for managing your testing artifacts. It goes beyond traditional folders, allowing you to file, organize, search, and view everything with ease. Leveraging custom fields and filters, PDDO creates a flat structure that remains multidimensional and user-friendly for all your testing modules.

This innovative approach unlocks possibilities for QA teams that were never before achievable, and for so long the limitations of traditional folder structures were simply the norm.

Hierarchical filter trees

filters folders graphics
Many times, an entity belongs to a subcategory inside a larger category. This is why we call our filters “Hierarchical filter trees”: Each filter can become a parent filter of more filters. This way you can easily find the exact data you are looking for.

For example - I can have two separate filters: One will show tests that their component is ‘DB server’, and the other will show automated tests. A test that is both DB server and automated will appear in both parent filters.

I can then see in one click - all tests that are DB server AND automated using a parent filter of component + a child filter of automated. Only tests that qualify for both criteria will appear.

Or I can choose to see in one click all automated tests regardless of their component using a parent filter called automated.

And why stop there?

Cross filter option
With Cross Filters you can even go deeper and in between the different modules and find exactly what you need in seconds.

For example, you want to create a final round of reruns after bug fixes and wish to create a single Test Set that includes all the tests that failed and had issues regardless of their type (automated, manual, regression, sanity).

Or you need to pull out from Test Set A only tests that are missing in Test Set B. These relationships are something that you can’t even dream of using folders.
